Virtualplant is an asset visualisation platform developed by RemSense that provides the capability to remotely view and interact with your facilities via an intuitive, immersive experience.

Born in the cloud, virtualplant is a high-resolution, photogrammic visual twin of industrial, physical assets that can link to existing enterprise management systems as well as corporate and operational technology platforms.

This technology allows for remote viewing and interaction with physical assets from any location, reducing the need for on-site visits and increasing productivity, safety, and cost-effectiveness.

The Future of Asset Visualisation: RemSense's Virtualplant Photogrammetry Model

RemSense, a digital technology company, is leading the industrial digital transformation with their innovative solution, virtualplant, was one of the world's first operational photogrammetry Digital Twin. With the visualization platform RemSense’s clients are boosting productivity, creating safer workplaces, and increasing remote operational efficiency including integrations to their enterprise management systems.

One of RemSense’s focus is to support companies within Australia's wealth of natural resources that are often located in remote and hazardous environments, making them challenging and costly to operate, maintain and access. Attracting workers and their families to remote locations is difficult and costly, especially in the current staff shortage. Geographically dispersed teams and contractors benefit using the platform by accessing the sites remotely to visually assess and plan works that need to be carried out without going there. Planning for these events generally start up to a year in advance, involving numerous site visits to check assumptions and existing design plans against the actual “as is” plant conditions.

RemSense's virtualplant offers a powerful visualisation tool that enables remote viewing of physical assets in any location in the world via any internet-connected display device. Users of virtualplant can easily remotely view and interact with their facilities via an intuitive, immersive experience, showing the "as is" state, not the "as designed." Its human-centric approach and interface make it simple to use and collaborate with suppliers, contractors, staff, and management through remote access to a 'single source of truth', reducing the need to travel to the site.

When integrated with RemSense's powerful, automated, AI-powered asset/object detection and tagging feature, virtualplant provides a powerful tool to surface data from any IoT-connected device, such as temperature, flow rate, and electrical current sensors, SCADA systems, live camera feeds, and more. This can be linked to and combined with an organisation's existing systems of record to provide further benefits.

Virtualplant is a world's market leader for 3D photogrammic Digital Twins in the energy sector. Since its launch in 2021, RemSense has quickly grown both client and user base, with four major energy clients signed within 12 months, including two tier 1 oil and gas producers covering onshore processing and production, offshore platforms, and marine FPSO vessels. This allows over four hundred active users to utilize virtualplant in their daily workflows.

RemSense has also begun working with a green hydrogen producer and has started trials within the mineral resources sector. They are deploying virtualplant within the Facilities Management and Utilities sectors, including museums, hospitals, wastewater treatment, and desalination plants. The revenue has grown from $1.1 million in 2019 to $3.9 million in 2021.

RemSense's focus on the Australian natural resources industry has proven successful, and the company has continued to expand its offerings to other sectors with promising results. The future looks bright for virtualplant, and we can expect to see many more exciting developments in this field in the years to come.

Virtualplant, be there without going there.
